Website Maintenance Checklist

Daily

Backup! If nothing else, do this!!
Check Uptime. Is your website working? Check in!
Daily security check-in. Are there any security warnings?

Weekly

Moderate Comments. Approve legitimate comments and mark others as spam and delete.
Updates: are there theme or plugin updates needed? MAKE SURE TO HAVE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU DO THIS!
Scan for malware.

Monthly

Visual Inpection. Click through ALL PAGES and make sure there aren’t formatting issues etc.
Look for trends. Are there any interesting findings in your analytics?

Quarterly or Yearly

Change Passwords and get rid of un-necessary users.
Delete unused themes or plugins (again, ensure current backup first!)
Media Library Cleaning. Are there files that can be removed from the media library?
Check for and repair dead or broken links.
Test all contact forms.
Delete unused draft posts and empty comment spam box.
Audit website speed.
Review website content (especially about page).
Audit website traffic.
